Conscious Competence Model

The Foundation of LORRIC Training Services LORRIC Training Services was built on a foundation of real-world resilience, technical mastery, and battle-tested leadership. The company was founded by Richard Berlier, whose path to leadership began in the high-stakes environment of the United States Navy during the height of the Vietnam War. Serving across two distinct naval vessels, Richard learned firsthand that true leadership is about precision, absolute accountability, and execution when the pressure is highest. This deep sense of operational excellence was forged aboard two historic warships: Naval Heritage: Precision Under Fire USS Sproston (DD-577): Operating at Yankee Station in the Gulf of Tonkin, the crew performed critical anti-submarine screening for attack aircraft carriers and delivered close-in Naval Gunfire Support (NGFS) to secure allied supply lines. The deployment required technical perfection under pressure—culminating in August 1966 when the Sproston served as a recovery asset for NASA’s AS-202 mission, tracking the uncrewed Apollo spacecraft before its safe splashdown. USS Henry W. Tucker (DD-875): Heavily engaged "on the line" in the South China Sea, the Tucker made naval history as the very first vessel to provide gunfire support against enemy targets in South Vietnam. From firing over 5,000 rounds in a single 40-day window to support ground troops, to intercepting smuggling lines during Operation Market Time and executing critical Combat Search and Rescue (SAR) missions for downed pilots, life aboard the Tucker demanded flawless synchronization. Industrial Mastery & Corporate Leadership Following his distinguished military service, Richard transitioned his naval discipline into the industrial and engineering sectors, building a legendary career defined by technical expertise and corporate upward mobility. Richard holds a prestigious Master Electrical License across several states, anchoring his training programs in strict regulatory compliance and real-world trade craft. Over a highly successful tenure with Jacobs Engineering, he proved his leadership capabilities at every single tier of industrial operations—climbing the ranks from hands-on Journeyman to Site Manager directing massive field operations, and ultimately to Corporate Manager, where he shaped high-level organizational strategy. To formalize his elite standard of workforce development, Richard earned highly respected, specialized credentials, including certifications as a: JE Merit Level 1 Supervisor JE Merit Level 2 Supervisor Total Quality Trainer (TQT) Zig Zigler Trainer The LORRIC Core Philosophy Every training program LORRIC delivers today carries the unique DNA of this combined heritage.
